2018: Motion Graphics
Client: NA
Tutor(s): Helen Dickson, Rebecca Hayes
Brief: You are to design a cohesive suite of artifacts that reflect or promote any of the following: film, book, play, TV show or children’s book (of your choice). Your subject must be researched and proposed for approval before commencement. You are to consider the target audience for this piece and any genre conventions, which may influence the work (you are welcome to go against genre type, but you must be aware of existing treatments).
The genre research process will be undertaken in small teams (ie comedy, drama, western, etc) based on mutual interest. The genre presentations will provide inspiration for potential subjects and visual themes/conventions. Following these research presentations students may work with the same team members or create new teams to pitch a subject title for final production.
Final works will explore the use of motion imagery to investigate themes, motifs and the tone for your selected production. Successful projects will transport audiences into the world of your wider narrative. You will use your voice to contribute to overall art direction: tailoring imagery, timing, sound, typography and motion graphics to set the scene and atmosphere. Your role in your team will be determined to best highlight your creative skill base.
Final production involves the creation of one motion element, one print element (or series of elements), one interactive element/documentation.
